Vivid Midcentury Fauvist Seascape Oil Painting by H. Collander

Overview: Up for sale is a really impressive and vivid fauvist seascape oil painting. The painting depicts a beach in the foreground with a large piece of driftwood, with a harbor containing a ship sailing towards the docks at the right of the scene. I really like the bold blue colors and the expressive swaths of clouds. It is signed "H. Collander" at lower right. I haven''t found any information on the artist, but based on age of the canvas, I''d date this to 1940-1960. It comes framed in a simple wood frame.

Condition: Painting is in good condition. A couple of spots of minor wear and paint loss. Minor canvas creasing from stretcher bars. Frame has a number of minor nicks and scuffs.

Measurements: Painting measures 24 inches wide x 18 inches high. Frame measures approximately 27.5 inches wide x 21.5 inches high.
